Through Theo Trails, I aim to connect people through journeys that spark curiosity, build camaraderie, and celebrate the thrill of adventure. I see every journey as an invitation to connect; with landscapes, with cultures, and with one another. My destinations are carefully chosen and I want to get the best out of each one of them.
Local knowledge is very important and I believe in it. Connecting with locals and approaching local customs with respect, curiosity and integrity is part of Theo Trails’ DNA. There always is a dedicated, able, experienced and qualified local team available. That is the ‘we’ in Theo Trails. Myself, Theo Peeters, together with a wealth of local knowledge and experience available to me at our destination. It is not me and them but always us. We are Theo Trails. We plan, calculate and execute our trips together from the very beginning until the very end. That is the focus, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Our treks aim to bring people together, travellers who enjoy learning, laughing, and sometimes pushing boundaries side by side.
You are never asked to do the impossible, the emphasise will not be on faster, longer or higher. That is not my game. In challenging situations, we sometimes need to focus on accepting, adapting and connecting, and always encourage the power of peer support. It is part of the holistic outdoor experience. Together we create experiences that inspire, challenge, and stay with you long after the trek is over.

Theo Trails; how did it all start?
The German connection. It all started in the late ninties, when a German friend wanted me to organise a trip for her. Since then, we have been working together almost every year. Beatrix has since developed her own followers of outdoor enthusiasts, some of whom we meet almost every year on different trails. Beatrix keeps it all connected via www.wuestenwanderer.de. That is her platform in Germany whilst mine in the UK is Theo Trails. We share info, share itineraries, share ideas and always work together for our German audience. Theo Trails, and this website, does spotlight the UK groups.

At Theo Trails, our groups are small to medium, mostly ranging from 8-15 pax. Our participants arrive from all corners of the UK (and beyond) and you will find a healthy mix of social and professional backgrounds and ages. We are like-minded on many aspects; experience compliments curiosity and ambition. There is a lot in common and in many cases a trip becomes an annual reunion we all look forward to.
We are physically active; we see it as essential and liberating. It is core. For most of it we appreciate, laugh, enjoy, are in awe and bond together. Sometimes we need to push ourselves a bit, need to embrace discomforts and need to accept the uncontrollable. That might be a learning process, but it is liberating in its own way. At the end, we share our gratifications and are energized. At least that is the aim!
There are additional core focus points on Theo Trails tours. Assisting people in experiencing the outdoors and facing the challenges involved is something I pay attention to. So, feel safe if it is your first time. You need to bring a positive attitude and a basic fitness and my team and I will help with the rest. From there on you will only grow! Embracing the ‘other’ and the ‘different’ is equally important. That, after all, is often the reason we travel, we want to experience the ‘different’, and leave ‘the same’ at home for those one or two weeks.
Most of my fellow travellers are repeat customers, we learned to appreciate and trust each other throughout the years. It all grew into a group of positive and friendly outdoor enthusiasts. You always will be taken care of. New trekkers and fellow travellers are welcomed each year. Yet, growing and expanding is not my main focus. Staying focussed on the core values, reflecting on what we have together and how we can still improve, is. I aim for some growth but it will happen in a sustainable and controlled way.
It is time to look at our Trails. After all, that is the main thing, no good talking the talk if you do not walk the walk. And walking we do…

The trails we have walked…
The desert was my first call, organising trails for the first few years in the Middle East. I will always have strong connection to the desert, but of course, there is more. The mountains, the forests, the coastlines, the bush etc. All is fascinating, beautiful and intriguing to me. Until 2026,at TheoTrails we have walked in Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia, Jordan, Oman, Mongolia, Namibia, Romania and Turkey. In some countries we have several itineraries and some itineraries have been repeated several times. In 2026, I added Kyrgyzstan and Albania to the list. For a visual impression of our itneraries so far swipe the images below and visit our trail history.

I want our participants to arrive with a positive mindset, determined to have a great time with like-minded people in an inspiring environment. That will be your part as a participant. We, from our side, will do everything to facilitate your ambitions and expectations in the best possible way and according to what has been promoted.
I am not done yet, as mentioned, so many trails still to be walked. We can’t walk them all but we keep going. We keep searching for more interesting trails, whether it is in the desert, the mountains or any other environment. Whether it is close by or further away. Everything is in the mix. At Theo Trails, we keep developing, keep sharing and keep walking those trails.
